How to Install Power BI Desktop
Power BI Desktop provides data visualization tools for your Windows desktop. It allows you to create and publish interactive reports and dashboards for your business or your own personal use.
The first step in using this application software is to download it free for Windows from Microsoft. It can be downloaded from the web or directly from the Microsoft Store for Business.
Once you have downloaded the file, you will need to run it. The process will take a few minutes, depending on your computer and network connection. Once the download is complete, the application will install on your machine and you will be able to begin creating your reports and data models.
If you don’t have an active Internet connection, you can still access the download from within KU Online by typing software center into your search bar or start menu. Once it opens, you will need to log in with your KU Online ID and password.
You can also download the file from the Microsoft Store for Business and install it manually from there. This is a better option, as the Microsoft Store version has some advantages over the download version.
To install the application, you must select a language from which to download it and then follow the instructions. Once you’ve finished the installation, Power BI Desktop will launch a welcome screen that allows you to get data, enrich your existing data models and create reports. It also enables you to publish your work to the Power BI service.
